Target intelligence / Profile preview
Complement component 1 subcomponent r (C1r) is a serine protease enzyme that plays a critical role in the classical pathway of the complement system, which is part of the innate immune response. It combines with C1q and C1s to form the C1 complex, initiating the classical pathway of complement activation through cleavage of downstream components C4 and C2. Mutations in C1R are associated with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome periodontal type.
