Target intelligence / Profile preview
Complement component C3d is a proteolytic fragment of complement component 3 (C3). It enhances B cell responses by binding to CR2/CD21, bridging innate and adaptive immunity. While primarily known as a B cell co-stimulator, it also contains T-cell epitopes capable of stimulating helper T-cells, potentially contributing to autoimmunity under certain conditions.
Acts as a molecular adjuvant by binding to CR2/CD21 on B cells, enhancing B cell receptor signaling and lowering the threshold for activation. May also stimulate autoreactive T cells independently of CR2 engagement.
