Overview
Complement factor I (CFI, also known as factor I or FI) is a serine protease and a key regulatory protein of the complement system, which is part of the innate immune response. It plays an essential role in controlling all complement activation pathways by degrading activated complement proteins C3b and C4b, thereby preventing excessive or inappropriate activation that could damage host tissues.
