Target intelligence / Profile preview
Compression therapy is a physical therapeutic modality that uses externally applied pressure—via garments, bandages, pneumatic devices, or wraps—to enhance venous and lymphatic return, reduce swelling (edema), and improve tissue perfusion[1][5][6][7]. It is a first-line non-pharmacologic treatment for chronic venous insufficiency, lymphedema, venous ulcers, and as prophylaxis for deep vein thrombosis, among others. Compression therapy does not act on a molecular or receptor level but optimizes hemodynamics and fluid balance by physical means. The mechanism of action is based on hydrostatic principles (Laplace's law, Pascal's law) and physiologic modulation of venous/lymphatic flow[4][6].
