Overview

Connective Tissue Growth Factor (CTGF/CCN2) is a matricellular protein that does not have a single, dedicated receptor. It interacts with several cell surface proteins, including integrins (α5β1, αvβ3), low-density lipoprotein receptor-related proteins (LRPs) like LRP6, heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs), and TrkA. These interactions regulate cell adhesion, migration, proliferation, angiogenesis, wound healing, skeletal development, and fibrosis. Therapeutic strategies target CTGF itself or its interactions with integrins or LRP6 to modulate pathological processes.
