Target intelligence / Profile preview
The connector enhancer of kinase suppressor of Ras 1 pseudogene (ENSG00000258463) is a DNA sequence in the human genome that has high similarity to the functional "connector enhancer of kinase suppressor of Ras 1" gene but is incapable of producing a functional protein product[1][2]. Pseudogenes like ENSG00000258463 arise from mutation, duplication, or retrotransposition events and, by definition, lack canonical biological activity such as coding for functional enzymes or receptors[1][2]. Although some pseudogenes are transcribed into RNA, and these transcripts may sometimes have a regulatory effect on their related protein-coding genes, there is no evidence that this particular pseudogene has any therapeutic relevance or is considered a drug target[3]. Pseudogenes are generally not used as biomarkers, do not interact with drugs directly, and do not pose known safety concerns in the context of drug discovery.
