Target intelligence / Profile preview
The coronary arteries are the primary blood vessels responsible for supplying oxygen-rich blood to the heart muscle (myocardium). They originate from the aortic root and include the Left Main Coronary Artery (LMCA), which branches into the Left Anterior Descending (LAD) and Left Circumflex arteries, and the Right Coronary Artery (RCA). Their main function is delivering oxygenated blood directly to cardiac muscle cells. Pathologies like atherosclerosis can lead to coronary artery disease, resulting in angina, myocardial infarction, or arrhythmias.
Not applicable - drugs target the underlying disease processes (e.g., atherosclerosis) or manage symptoms (e.g., angina).
