Overview
The coronavirus spike glycoprotein is a large, trimeric class I fusion protein found on the surface of all coronaviruses. It mediates viral entry into host cells by binding to host cell receptors and facilitating fusion of viral and cellular membranes. It is the main target for neutralizing antibodies and the basis for most COVID-19 vaccines.
