Coronin-2B (CORO2B) is a WD40-repeat-containing actin-binding protein that regulates the cytoskeleton in specialized cells such as neurons and podocytes[2][3]. It directly interacts with components of the actin cytoskeleton (e.g., cofilin, talin, vinculin), coordinates actin dynamics necessary for cell migration and adhesion, and modulates nucleolar function in neurons by supporting rDNA transcription through interaction with the upstream binding factor (UBF)[1][2][3][4]. Loss of CORO2B leads to structural and functional deficits, such as neuronal migration defects, nucleolar stress and apoptosis in neurons, increased susceptibility to seizures, and podocyte stress responses implicated in kidney injury[1][2][3]. Its specific expression in podocytes and neurons makes it a useful research marker for these cell types, but it is not yet a validated therapeutic target or clinical biomarker[2][3][4].
