Overview

COTL1 pseudogene 2 is a non-coding genomic sequence that resembles the COTL1 gene, which encodes coactosin-like protein 1, an actin-binding protein involved in cytoskeletal regulation. As a pseudogene, COTL1P2 does not encode a functional protein nor is it known to be involved in therapeutic targeting, biological pathways, or drug interactions. Its presence is mainly noted as a DNA sequence similar to a functional gene, and it may be referenced in genomic or evolutionary studies but has no known biological or pharmacological function. COTL1P2 (COTL1 pseudogene 2) is frequently found in gene databases as a sequence homologous to the functional COTL1 gene but is annotated as a pseudogene. The functional COTL1 gene is involved in cytoskeletal arrangement, actin binding, and leukotriene synthesis and is not the same as the pseudogene "COTL1 pseudogene 2". No evidence supports any druggability, biological activity, or disease relevance for COTL1P2.
