Target intelligence / Profile preview
COX20 pseudogene 2 (COX20P2) is a pseudogene related to the COX20 gene, which codes for a protein involved in cytochrome c oxidase (complex IV) assembly in the mitochondrial respiratory chain. Like most pseudogenes, COX20P2 is not known to encode a functional protein, and no experimental evidence supports a role in normal biology, disease, or as a therapeutic target. In contrast, the functional COX20 protein acts as a chaperone in complex IV assembly and is relevant to mitochondrial disorders, but these activities do not involve the pseudogene COX20P2.
