COX7B pseudogene 2 (COX7BP2), also known as dJ901O8.2, is listed as a pseudogene related to the COX7B gene, which encodes a subunit of cytochrome c oxidase (Complex IV of the mitochondrial respiratory chain). COX7BP2 does not code for a functional protein. Pseudogenes are generally non-coding DNA sequences with high sequence similarity to known genes but are not translated into functional proteins. Unlike the functional COX7B gene, which is involved in mitochondrial electron transport and disease phenotypes, there is no evidence that COX7BP2 is expressed or serves as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any other kind of therapeutic target.
