Overview

CPB2 antisense RNA 1 (CPB2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA that is transcribed from the strand opposite the CPB2 gene and acts as a negative regulator of CPB2 expression in hepatocytes, serving to fine-tune basal production of CPB2. Like other antisense RNAs, it may modulate gene expression through epigenetic, transcriptional, and post-transcriptional mechanisms, but no direct role in disease or as a drug target has been established. CPB2-AS1 is annotated in human databases as a non-protein coding RNA with sequence complementarity and regulatory roles relevant to its sense gene, CPB2.
