CPS1 intronic transcript 1 (CPS1-IT1) is a long non-coding RNA found within an intron of the CPS1 gene on chromosome 2. CPS1-IT1 does not code for a protein, but emerging research shows it may play a role in cancer biology by suppressing tumor growth, inhibiting cell proliferation, migration and invasion, and promoting apoptosis. CPS1-IT1 has been linked to glioma and colorectal cancer, but its functions and mechanisms are not fully characterized, and there are currently no approved drugs or biomarkers associated with it. CPS1-IT1 should not be confused with CPS1 protein (carbamoyl-phosphate synthetase 1), a mitochondrial enzyme critical for the urea cycle. If further structure or druggability information is needed, focus should be on protein-coding targets, not non-coding RNAs like CPS1-IT1.
