CPVL antisense RNA 1 (CPVL-AS1)

Target
CPVL-AS1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), Antisense RNA
01

Overview

CPVL antisense RNA 1 (CPVL-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the opposite strand of the CPVL gene on chromosome 7. As an antisense RNA, CPVL-AS1 is part of a class of non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression by base-pairing with their corresponding sense transcripts, thereby modulating transcription, mRNA stability, or epigenetic state. While antisense RNAs are recognized as important regulators of gene expression in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes, there is currently no evidence that CPVL-AS1 serves as a receptive or catalytic therapeutic target, nor is there data linking it directly to specific diseases or drug interactions. The principal function of such antisense transcripts is believed to be the fine-tuning of gene activity, often in a tissue-specific manner, but additional research is needed to clarify the precise roles and potential clinical relevance of CPVL-AS1.
