Overview

CPVL antisense RNA 2 (CPVL-AS2) is a long non-coding antisense RNA transcribed from the opposite DNA strand at the CPVL locus. Like many naturally occurring antisense RNAs, CPVL-AS2 likely participates in the regulation of its sense gene (CPVL) expression at both post-transcriptional and/or epigenetic levels, potentially by forming RNA–RNA duplexes or influencing chromatin structure. However, there is currently no evidence in the literature that CPVL-AS2 functions as a receptor, enzyme, or other typical drug target; nor are there reports of it being directly targeted by therapeutic interventions or serving as a clinical biomarker. Its precise biological and pathophysiological roles remain unclear, as is common for many annotated lncRNAs. CPVL-AS2 is not a protein, receptor, enzyme, or classic therapeutic target, but a lncRNA gene. Alternative names (aliases) include its previous annotation, CTB-113D17.1. No interacting drugs, established mechanisms of drug action, or known safety issues have been reported. The main recognized function is antisense RNA-mediated gene regulation, as described for this and other lncRNAs.
