Overview

CPXM2 antisense RNA 1 (CPXM2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene transcribed in the antisense orientation relative to the CPXM2 gene. As with other antisense RNAs, its presumed function is the regulation of gene expression—either of its sense counterpart (CPXM2) or potentially other loci via both cis- and trans-acting mechanisms. Antisense RNAs generally influence gene expression at transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels, and lncRNAs of this type are increasingly recognized for roles in epigenetic regulation, mRNA stability, and chromatin remodeling. However, the specific biological functions, molecular partners, and disease relevance of CPXM2-AS1 itself remain uncharacterized in the scientific literature as of this writing[2][3][4]. There is no established role for CPXM2-AS1 as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or mediator in drug interactions based on current genome annotation and public resources[3]. - CPXM2 (the sense protein-coding gene) is itself implicated in cancer (notably gastric cancer), cellular proliferation, migration, and EMT, but this is distinct from the CPXM2-AS1 antisense RNA, whose functions remain largely uncharacterized[1]. - Antisense lncRNAs may act as negative or positive regulators of their sense gene or have independent regulatory roles, but each must be evaluated individually[2][4]. - The current entry reflects all major available gene/protein/ncRNA databases and general antisense RNA biology. Updates should be made if functional studies of CPXM2-AS1 emerge.
