Overview

CR1 antisense RNA 1 (CR1-AS1), also known as AL137789.1, is a long non-coding RNA transcribed in the antisense orientation to the CR1 gene. As an antisense RNA, it does not code for a protein but may regulate the expression of sense genes through various mechanisms. Recent studies indicate CR1-AS1 can promote tumor progression and immune evasion in pancreatic cancer, implying a regulatory role in tumor biology[5]. Like other antisense lncRNAs, it may act via transcriptional interference, mRNA stability modulation, or chromatin remodeling. There is growing evidence that CR1-AS1 is part of a broader class of antisense RNAs with regulatory and disease-related properties[5][8]. There are currently no known drugs targeting this RNA, and it is not classified as a canonical drug target such as a receptor or enzyme.
