Overview

CRIPTO pseudogene 7 (CRIPTOP7) is one of a family of CRIPTO-related pseudogenes found in the human genome. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to functional genes but typically carry disabling mutations, insertions, or deletions that prevent them from being expressed as functional proteins. Pseudogene transcripts may, in some cases, act as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) by interacting with microRNAs, but there is no evidence that CRIPTO pseudogene 7 has such a role[2][3][7]. On GeneCards, CRIPTOP7 is distinctly labeled as a pseudogene and not as an active protein-coding or receptor gene. Unlike canonical CRIPTO (TDGF1, teratocarcinoma-derived growth factor 1), which is a GPI-anchored cell membrane protein essential for development and tumor signaling[4], CRIPTOP7 does not participate in such biological or disease pathways[7]. There is no evidence of disease association, drug targeting, or biomarker relevance for CRIPTO pseudogene 7, and no functional or mechanistic data relating to therapeutic intervention[7]. CRIPTO pseudogene 7 (CRIPTOP7) is not a therapeutic or biological target due to its classification as a pseudogene. Information about mechanisms, drug interactions, biomarkers, and safety concerns is not available or applicable. The entry is correct with respect to standard nomenclature, but not relevant for most structured molecular target databases or therapeutic purposes[7].
