CROCC pseudogene 3 (gene symbol: CROCCP3) is a human pseudogene related to the ciliary rootlet coiled-coil protein (Rootletin, CROCC), which is important for ciliary structure and centrosome cohesion in other functional paralogs. As a pseudogene, CROCCP3 does not encode a functional protein, but may play a role as a noncoding RNA in regulating gene expression, primarily by acting as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) that interacts with microRNAs and modulates mRNA expression in cancer and possibly other biological contexts. Pseudogenes are increasingly recognized for their RNA-level regulatory functions and roles in disease biomarker discovery, but CROCC pseudogene 3 itself is not an established target for drug therapy or biomarker use. Its aliases include CROCCP3, KIAA1922, CROCCL2, and others. No evidence indicates involvement as a druggable protein target, and direct molecular functions remain largely uncharacterized.
