Overview

CROCC2 antisense RNA 1 (CROCC2-AS1), also referred to as UICLM or up-regulated in colorectal cancer liver metastasis, is a long non-coding RNA identified as being up-regulated in colorectal cancer samples that have metastasized to the liver. This lncRNA is thought to contribute to tumorigenesis and metastatic potential by modulating gene expression related to cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Although its precise functions and validated mechanisms remain under investigation, UICLM has been highlighted as a potential prognostic biomarker for colorectal cancer patients at high risk for liver metastasis, but it is not considered a conventional therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter. Based on available data, UICLM/CROCC2-AS1 is a lncRNA, not a receptor, enzyme, or conventional druggable target. No direct interacting drugs or mechanism of action for targeted therapy using this RNA are reported in reviewed literature. It serves mainly as a potential biomarker for prognosis rather than as a bona fide therapeutic target. No direct safety concerns or established biomarker roles for drug monitoring have been described. If further details or correction to these entries surfaces from updated or more specific literature, these fields should be updated accordingly.
