Crotaline snake venom toxins are a complex assembly of bioactive proteins and peptides produced by snakes of the subfamily Crotalinae (pitvipers), including rattlesnakes. Major toxin types include snake venom metalloproteinases (SVMPs), phospholipases A2 (PLA2s), serine proteases, and small nonenzymatic toxins such as crotamine (a β-defensin-like myotoxin).
