CRTC3 antisense RNA 1 (CRTC3-AS1)

Target
CRTC3-AS1
Molecular classification
Non-coding RNA, Natural antisense transcript
01

Overview

CRTC3 antisense RNA 1 (CRTC3-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed antisense to the CRTC3 locus. Natural antisense RNAs such as this molecule are widespread. They typically function as regulatory elements in the genome, influencing the expression of their sense counterparts through mechanisms such as altering chromatin structure, inducing DNA methylation, modulating transcription rates, and influencing transcript stability and processing[1][2]. Antisense transcripts may locally affect promoter regions and gene expression without encoding a protein. While general biological roles for antisense RNAs include regulation of chromatin modification and RNA transcript dynamics, there is currently no evidence that CRTC3-AS1 is itself a direct therapeutic target or is implicated in specific diseases or drug interactions[3][2][1].
