Target intelligence / Profile preview
CRB3P1 (Crumbs cell polarity complex component 3 pseudogene 1) is a human genomic locus classified as a pseudogene. It shares sequence similarity with the protein-coding CRB3 gene, which is a crucial regulator of epithelial cell polarity and junction formation; however, CRB3P1 itself does not encode a functional protein and is not known to contribute to cell physiology or pathology[3]. It should not be confused with CRB3, the functional protein component of the Crumbs polarity complex, which is involved in the biogenesis of adherens junctions and the establishment of apical-basal polarity in epithelial cells[1][5]. There is no evidence to support CRB3P1 as a drug target, disease marker, or active participant in human physiology. Important Clarification: The protein-coding gene CRB3 (and not CRB3P1) serves important biological roles: it is essential for epithelial polarity, adherens junction assembly, and morphogenesis, but these properties do not apply to the pseudogene CRB3P1[1][3]. If your inquiry relates to cell polarity, therapeutic relevance, or receptor activities, you should refer to the protein-coding CRB3, not CRB3P1.
Not applicable (does not encode a protein, not a target for drugs)
