CRYGN antisense RNA 1 (CRYGN-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the region antisense to the CRYGN gene. Antisense RNAs, including CRYGN-AS1, generally act by regulating the expression of their sense counterparts or neighboring genes, often through mechanisms such as transcriptional interference, RNase protection, chromatin remodeling, and interaction with promoter or enhancer regions. These mechanisms can modulate transcriptional activity, influence epigenetic imprinting, and affect mRNA processing or degradation. While antisense lncRNAs as a class play diverse roles in cellular biology and disease, there is currently no evidence that CRYGN-AS1 is a direct therapeutic target or that it has a defined role in any particular human disease.
