Target intelligence / Profile preview
CS pseudogene 1 (abbreviated CSP1) is a human pseudogene, meaning it is a nonfunctional segment of DNA derived from a functional gene but rendered inactive by mutations[3][2][4]. Pseudogenes are not translated into functional proteins and are generally not considered therapeutic targets in drug development. While some pseudogenes can produce non-coding RNAs with potential regulatory functions, there is no evidence that CS pseudogene 1 is expressed or functional in disease or normal biology in humans[3][2][4]. It is not a protein, receptor, enzyme, or transporter, nor does it have known implications for drug action or therapeutic safety.
