Target intelligence / Profile preview
CSGALNACT2 divergent transcript (CSGALNACT2-DT) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located in proximity to the CSGALNACT2 gene on chromosome 10. It is classified as an RNA gene and specifically as part of the lncRNA class, which refers to RNA molecules longer than 200 nucleotides that do not code for proteins. The function, biological role, and clinical significance of CSGALNACT2-DT remain uncharacterized, and there is no evidence in current databases or literature to suggest it is a therapeutic target or associated with drugs, disease biomarkers, or safety concerns. As such, it is distinct from the protein-coding gene CSGALNACT2 (Chondroitin sulfate N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 2), which is a glycosyltransferase enzyme involved in chondroitin sulfate biosynthesis[5][3]. Note: This gene can be easily confused with CSGALNACT2, a protein/gene coding enzyme involved in chondroitin sulfate synthesis and related to cartilage function and certain skeletal diseases[1][2][4]. However, CSGALNACT2-DT is a divergent transcript (lncRNA) and is *not* a protein, enzyme, receptor, or other canonical therapeutic target. The entry is likely *incorrect* as a classical “target molecule/receptor” for therapeutic intervention[5][3].
