Overview

CSMD2 antisense RNA 1 (*CSMD2-AS1*) is a human long non-coding antisense RNA gene found on chromosome 1, transcribed from the opposite strand of the CSMD2 gene locus[1][2][4][7]. It does not code for a protein and is categorized as an antisense lncRNA, which means it can overlap or partially overlap exons of a coding gene on the anti-sense strand and may modulate gene expression through various mechanisms[5][6]. The gene has multiple transcript variants and alternative names, and while CSMD2-AS1 is not a classical drug target, its expression as part of a six-lncRNA signature has been correlated with overall prognosis in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, suggesting a potential role in cancer biology as a prognostic biomarker[5]. There are currently no drugs, mechanisms of action, or therapeutic safety concerns associated with CSMD2-AS1, and its precise molecular function remains to be fully elucidated.
