Overview

CTBP2 pseudogene 5 is a processed pseudogene, not encoding a functional protein. It is related in sequence to the CTBP2 gene, which encodes C-terminal binding protein 2—a transcriptional co-repressor involved in transcription regulation and implicated in cancer biology[7]. However, CTBP2P5 itself does not produce an active molecule and is not considered a direct therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or functional protein. CTBP2P5 is a pseudogene. Pseudogenes are typically non-functional sequences in the genome that are homologous to functional genes but contain mutations or truncations that prevent them from producing functional proteins. It is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any molecule with established biological or therapeutic activity. There are no known drugs, disease associations, or mechanisms of action relevant to CTBP2P5. The functional protein CtBP2 (C-terminal binding protein 2) is a transcriptional corepressor implicated in cancer and cell regulation, but CTBP2P5 only shares sequence similarity and does not have similar activity[7].
