CTNNA2 antisense RNA 1 (CTNNA2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the opposite strand of the CTNNA2 (Catenin alpha-2) gene locus. As a natural antisense transcript, its sequence is complementary to that of the sense CTNNA2 mRNA, and it may regulate expression of CTNNA2 or other genes through mechanisms such as transcriptional interference, RNA masking, or chromatin remodeling. While antisense RNAs, including lncRNAs, play crucial roles in gene regulation, there is no direct evidence that CTNNA2-AS1 is itself a clinically actionable molecular target or is involved in specific diseases. Its biological functions may be inferred from general properties of long non-coding antisense RNAs, including modulation of sense gene transcription and participation in regulatory networks controlling cell fate, but further research is needed to clarify its precise roles[2][6].
