CTP-choline-phosphate cytidylyltransferase (CCT)

Target
CCT
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Cytidylyltransferase
01

Overview

CTP-choline-phosphate cytidylyltransferase (CCT) is a key regulatory enzyme in phosphatidylcholine (PC) biosynthesis, catalyzing the rate-limiting step in the CDP-choline pathway. It exists as two main isoforms, alpha (PCYT1A) and beta (PCYT1B), with distinct localization and regulation. CCT activity is regulated by membrane binding, phosphorylation, and lipid activators. Dysregulation is linked to developmental disorders, liver steatosis, and dyslipidemia. Inhibitors like CT-2584 have shown anti-tumor effects.
