CUGBP Elav-like family member 3 (CELF3)

Target
CELF3
Molecular classification
RNA-binding protein, Transcription factor (specifically, regulator of mRNA processing/splicing)
01

Overview

CUGBP Elav-like family member 3 (CELF3) is an RNA-binding protein that regulates pre-mRNA alternative splicing, particularly by mediating tissue-specific and developmentally regulated inclusion or exclusion of exons during mRNA maturation. It binds to specific sequence motifs within pre-mRNA and can influence the splicing of key targets such as TNNT2 (encoding cardiac troponin T) and MAPT (encoding Tau protein), thereby impacting post-transcriptional gene expression. CELF3 is associated with certain neurodevelopmental disorders, including specific language impairment and reading disorder, but it is not currently classified as a direct therapeutic target or known to interact with approved drugs
