Culture Filtrate Protein 10 kDa (CFP10)

Target
CFP10
Molecular classification
ESAT-6-like proteins, Secreted protein

Overview

Culture filtrate protein 10 kDa (CFP10), also known as EsxB or Rv3874, is a secreted protein produced by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and related pathogenic mycobacteria. It plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of tuberculosis and is a major target for immune recognition during infection. CFP10 forms a tight complex with ESAT-6 and is essential for virulence, facilitating bacterial escape from host immune responses. It is highly immunogenic, eliciting strong T cell responses and is used in diagnostic assays for TB infection.
