Overview

CX3C chemokine receptor 1 (CX3CR1), also known as the fractalkine receptor or GPR13, is a transmembrane protein belonging to the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family. Its primary endogenous ligand is fractalkine (CX3CL1), which exists in both membrane-bound and soluble forms. The interaction between CX3CL1 and CX3CR1 mediates cell adhesion, migration, and retention of leukocytes. It plays a key role in immune response, inflammation, cell adhesion, and chemotaxis and is associated with various diseases including neurodegenerative, inflammatory, cardiovascular diseases and cancer.
