CXC chemokine receptor 2 (CXCR2)

Target
CXCR2
Molecular classification
G-protein-coupled receptor
01

Overview

CXCR2 is a G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that primarily functions as a receptor for several CXC chemokines, most notably interleukin-8 (IL-8, also known as CXCL8). It plays critical roles in immune cell migration, inflammation, cancer progression, and central nervous system development. Upon ligand binding, CXCR2 activates PI3K/Akt, PLC/PKC, and MAPK/p38 pathways, leading to cell migration, proliferation, and survival. Targeting this receptor is under investigation for therapeutic intervention in inflammatory diseases and cancer.
