CXCR2 (CXC chemokine receptor type 2) is a member of the G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family that primarily functions as a receptor for several CXC chemokines, most notably interleukin-8 (IL-8, also known as CXCL8). It is highly expressed on neutrophils and oligodendrocyte lineage cells, and also found on basophils, T lymphocytes, and endothelial cells. CXCR2 plays critical roles in neutrophil biology (recruitment, homeostasis, aging), CNS development (OPC proliferation, migration, myelination), and angiogenesis.
