Target intelligence / Profile preview
Cyclic GMP phosphodiesterase 2 (PDE2) is an enzyme that degrades the secondary messengers cyclic AMP (cAMP) and cyclic GMP (cGMP). It hydrolyzes both cAMP and cGMP, with its activity toward cAMP enhanced in the presence of cGMP. It plays a critical role in regulating intracellular concentrations of cyclic nucleotides and modulating cross-talk between the NO/cGMP pathway and β-adrenoceptor/cAMP signaling pathways. Modulation or inhibition of PDE2 has been explored for potential therapeutic benefits in cardiovascular diseases.
Hydrolyzes cAMP and cGMP, with activity toward cAMP enhanced by cGMP; Modulation/Inhibition of PDE2 alters cyclic nucleotide signaling
