Cyclic Nucleotide-Gated Channel Subunit Alpha 2 (HCN2)

Target
HCN2
Molecular classification
Ion channel, Hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated (HCN) ion channel
01

Overview

HCN2 is a membrane protein that forms an ion channel permeable to sodium (Na⁺) and potassium (K⁺) ions, activated by hyperpolarization and modulated by cAMP binding. It generates the "funny" current (I_f), crucial for pacemaker activity in the heart and regulates neuronal excitability in the brain. It is implicated in cardiac arrhythmias and neuropathic pain.
