Overview

Cyclin B1 ubiquitination refers to the post-translational modification process in which ubiquitin molecules are covalently attached to cyclin B1, marking it for degradation by the 26S proteasome. This process is essential for proper cell cycle progression, particularly for mitotic exit. The primary E3 ubiquitin ligase responsible for targeting cyclin B1 is the Anaphase-Promoting Complex/Cyclosome (APC/C). Failure or dysregulation in this process can result in mitotic arrest, aneuploidy, and uncontrolled proliferation.
