Target intelligence / Profile preview
Cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that plays a central role in cell cycle regulation. It controls progression through the G1/S boundary and drives cells through S phase when complexed with cyclins E or A. Activation requires cyclin binding and phosphorylation at Thr160. Dysregulation of CDK2 is implicated in various cancers, making it a target for anticancer drug development.
Inhibition of CDK2 kinase activity, often through ATP-competitive or allosteric mechanisms.
