Overview
Cyclin-dependent kinase 4 (CDK4) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that plays a central role in regulating the cell cycle, specifically the transition from G1 phase to S phase. It forms an active complex with D-type cyclins and phosphorylates members of the retinoblastoma (RB) protein family. Dysregulation or overactivation of CDK4 is implicated in various cancers.
