Cyclin-dependent kinase-like 4 (CDKL4)

Cyclin-dependent kinase-like 4 (CDKL4) is a predicted serine/threonine kinase encoded by the CDKL4 gene, a distant member of the cyclin-dependent kinase family[2]. Its functions are mostly inferred from bioinformatics and genetic association studies. CDKL4 localizes to the cytoplasm and nucleus and may participate in regulating the cell cycle, but its specific substrates and full roles remain largely unvalidated. Clinical and genetic studies suggest that changes in CDKL4 levels are associated with outcomes in colorectal cancer therapy and may impact behavioral responses to acute stress, indicating possible broader effects in tumor biology and neurobiology[2].
