Overview

Cyclin E1 (CCNE1) is a key regulatory protein that controls the transition from G1 to S phase in the cell cycle by forming a complex with and activating cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2). Overexpression or amplification of CCNE1 is frequently observed in various cancers and is associated with poor prognosis due to increased genomic instability and uncontrolled proliferation.

Forms a complex with CDK2 to promote cell cycle progression from G1 to S phase. Regulated by phosphorylation and ubiquitination leading to proteasomal degradation.
