Cyclin-G2 (CCNG2) is a protein encoded by the CCNG2 gene in humans and is part of the cyclin family. It is a centrosome-associated nucleocytoplasmic shuttling protein that influences microtubule stability and induces p53-dependent cell cycle arrest. Cyclin-G2 helps negatively regulate cell cycle progression, and, unlike Cyclin-G1, it contains a C-terminal PEST motif, making its expression tightly regulated during the cell cycle. Cyclin-G2 has been reported to be involved in growth regulation and is associated with suppression of Wnt/β-catenin signaling, leading to inhibition of cancer cell growth and migration. Mutations or expression changes in CCNG2 have been studied in various cancers, suggesting a potential but not yet well-established role as a tumor suppressor[1][2][3][6].
