Target intelligence / Profile preview
Cyclohydrolase 1 (GTP cyclohydrolase I) is the first and rate-limiting enzyme in the biosynthesis of tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4). BH4 is a critical cofactor for several metabolic processes, including the hydroxylation of aromatic amino acids, the production of neurotransmitters, and nitric oxide synthesis. Mutations in *GCH1* cause dopamine-responsive dystonia and other neurological disorders.
Modulation of tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) levels, affecting neurotransmitter and nitric oxide synthesis.
