CYLD antisense RNA 2 (CYLD-AS2)

Target
CYLD-AS2
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), Other (RNA gene, not a protein)
01

Overview

CYLD antisense RNA 2 (CYLD-AS2) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed on the antisense strand to the CYLD locus. It does not encode a protein and is affiliated with the lncRNA gene class. Diseases associated with CYLD-AS2 include Brooke-Spiegler syndrome and familial cylindromatosis, both of which are linked to mutation or dysregulation of the neighboring CYLD gene, a tumor suppressor deubiquitinase. The functional roles of CYLD-AS2 itself remain unclear but may involve regulation of CYLD gene expression through antisense RNA mechanisms or chromatin structure. There are currently no drugs or direct interventions that target CYLD-AS2, and it is not considered a classical therapeutic target such as a receptor or enzyme[5].
