Overview

CYP1B1 antisense RNA 1 (CYP1B1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the antisense strand of the cytochrome P450 CYP1B1 gene locus. It plays a regulatory role in breast cancer by suppressing cell proliferation and inducing apoptosis, functioning partly through the inhibition of protein neddylation by binding NEDD8 activating enzyme E1 subunit 1 (NAE1)[1]. Expression is regulated by the transcription factor FOXO1 and can be upregulated by inhibiting the PI3K/FOXO1 pathway[1]. As a lncRNA, CYP1B1-AS1 represents an emerging target in cancer research for therapeutic intervention focused on post-translational modification processes. It is not a classical receptor, enzyme, or transporter, but belongs to the family of non-coding regulatory RNAs[1][2][4].
