CYP2U1 and SGMS2 antisense RNA 1 (CYP2U1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene located on chromosome 4q25. As an antisense RNA, it is transcribed from the strand opposite the *CYP2U1* and *SGMS2* genes. There is no evidence that CYP2U1-AS1 encodes a functional protein, and computational prediction along with experimental data confirm it as a non-coding transcript. The specific biological function and clinical relevance of CYP2U1-AS1 remain uncharacterized, and there are no reports of its involvement in disease, interaction with drugs, or use as a therapeutic target. Its identification as a lncRNA suggests it may be involved in gene regulation relevant to its neighboring genes but, as of now, there is no direct experimental evidence supporting a role in pathology or therapy.\n\nImportant Note:\nThis target is not the same as *CYP2U1* (Cytochrome P450 family 2 subfamily U member 1), which is a protein-coding gene and a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily involved in fatty acid metabolism and linked to hereditary spastic paraplegia. CYP2U1-AS1 is its non-coding antisense transcript and is not a classic drug target.
