Cystatin pseudogene 1 (CSTP1) is a human pseudogene located in the cystatin locus on chromosome 20[4]. Unlike active cystatin genes (such as CST1, CST2, CST4, and CST5), CSTP1 does not produce a functional protein and is not expressed in human tissues[2]. No biological function, disease association, or therapeutic utility has been ascribed to CSTP1, and it should not be considered a molecular target for drug discovery or clinical intervention[4][2]. \n\nIn summary, CSTP1 is a non-functional pseudogene with no role in normal biology, disease, or therapeutic targeting. It is relevant only as a genomic annotation.
