Cysteine and glycine-rich protein 2 (CSRP2) is a LIM domain–containing protein that plays critical roles in modulating cytoskeletal organization, cell adhesion, and cell motility[1][4]. CSRP2 is part of a small gene family (with CSRP1 and CSRP3) and features two LIM zinc-binding domains. It is implicated in cellular differentiation and development, particularly in muscle cells and vascular tissues[3][4]. In pathological settings, CSRP2 supports formation of actin-rich invadopodia in cancer cells, facilitating extracellular matrix degradation and cell invasion during hypoxia. Its downregulation can promote proliferation and invasion in some cancers, while its upregulation is linked to increased risk of relapse in B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, highlighting context-dependent roles in cancer progression and vascular remodeling[1][4]. There are no established drugs that directly target CSRP2, and it is not considered a therapeutic target (receptor, enzyme, transporter, etc.) at present[4].
